Studying for Finals

Here are some tips on how to survive our first college finals:

1.     Create a schedule for studying:
a.     Spend around 60-90 minutes a day 3 to 4 days a week taking a brain break every 20 minutes to soak in what you studied.
2.     Find a study partner or group:
a.     If you find that you study better well with someone else find someone in your class a study with them.
                                                        i.     It’s never too late to find a tutor or ask your professor for help on something you just really don’t understand.
ii.     Attend review sessions with your professor if they have them for the final exam
3.     Know your exam schedule:
a.     If you have two exams that are close together in time prioritize based on how confident you are on the material, the amount of time you have already spent studying, your grade going into the exam, and so on.
4.     Pick a good stop for studying:
a.     Pick a location that is quite and has no distractions to help focus on studying
5.     Don’t Stress
a.     Avoid all-nighters. Sleeping after studying has been proven to help you retain what you learn. Get some sleep.

Good Luck!

  2. I agree with these tips! I have done this all at least once and I have seen such a great improvement. Finals week can be a stressful time for us all, and if we remain calm and collected it should be easier. Another helpful tip is to keep a positive mind set. If you have an awful mind set, it is proven that you will not do as good on a test then if you would have had a positive mind set. Good luck everyone!
