Peer editing

Peer editing has always been something people hear and most of the time their first reaction is "ugh peer editing", but peer editing can actually be very beneficial to everyone that takes it seriously. The rubrics that are used to grade papers is most of the time the same ruric that is used to grade your actual paper. When peer editing is taken seriously it lets another person read your work and tell you what you should change or add to your writing to make it better and possibly get a better grade.

Over the times that we have used peer editing in this class it has helped me change my papers for the better and I will continue to have others look at my writing in the future because of the feedback that I have received.

  1. I agree it is always a great thing to get a 2nd pair of eyes to look at your paper before turning it in. During peer edits it seems that someone is able to catch a mistake that I over looked many times. I feel as if Peer editing is very important to writing a great paper.

  2. I certainly agree too because it's nice to have someone other than the teacher to look at my assignment before its turned in. I also like when people take it seriously and critique my work so that way I can fix my errors before the teacher sees them.

  3. From past experiences, it is important to always have a second or even a third opinion on your paper. The more people that have a chance to edit it, can be more ideas that you can incorporate in your own paper. There have been times where I am writing a paper and someone has a good example that I might put into my own words. It's all about using good resources and having people around that can enhance an essay to be better.

  4. I personally was the person on the first day of the peer workshop to say "ugh peer editing". I did not like the thought of sharing my writing and having the people in my group tell me what they thought about it. But when I got into class I realized nobody else wanted to do it either. So it made the first peer edit not as stressful. Looking back on it I have seen a change in my writing projects because of the peer workshops.

  5. I've always hated peer editing because I thought it was stupid and never really got good feedback, but after peer editing in this class I learned how beneficial it can be when you actually care about helping your classmates improve and they also want to help you improve. It also helped me by seeing others papers and seeing how they went about each prompt.

  6. Peer editing has been so beneficial for me personally. As humans, we all make mistakes, especially when writing. Peer editing has allowed me to create a more clear, and constructed paper. The ability to ask others for their opinion has greatly improved my writing and my skills as a writer.
