27 Club Claims Another Star
What is the 27 Club? It is a notorious age for stars like musicians, artists, and actors that have died either before or at the age of 27. This "club" is haunted by the common thread of drug abuse and addiction. Recently, rapper Juice Wrld passed away from apparent overdose. Many artists sadly promote the use of drugs and violence. The constant culture of drug use and violence in the entertainment industry has promoted an extremely risky lifestyle to those watching. According to the Addiction Center's article entitled "The Influence Of Social Media On Teen Drug Use", studies show a link between media and drug use. The author Jena Hilliard stated, "A study conducted by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University found that teenagers who regularly use popular social media outlets were more likely to drink, use drugs, and buy tobacco than adolescents who either did not use social media or used it less frequently". There is a clear influence onto society caused by the glamorization of drug use/abuse. Don't Do Drugs Kids, it is not worth the risk of losing your life and hurting those around you.

This was devastating news to all of Juice World's fans and it is still shocking to the world. Drugs are awful and the people who have done them for a while, are the ones who think they cant be killed by them. Society needs to understand that it it is not "cool" to do drugs like it is shown on social media. This comes to show that social media is influencing people more negatively at times than positive.
ReplyDeleteWe have seen the number of drug related death increase in artists over the past couple of years. Im not sure why everyone gets so surprised when it happens though. With the amount of drugs done by some of the artists i do not understand why it comes to a shock to us when they die.
