Do You Know What You Are Eating?
On an average day, how often do you look at the nutrient content on food labels? Have you noticed that the word "natural" is labeled on some items that are not really natural? Yeah.. I did not think so. The food industry is the biggest industry in the world, yet it is the most problematic. We tend to believe the "facts" that is given to us, and don' t really read into the actual truth about the food industry as a whole. Junk food makers spend billions of dollars advertising unhealthy foods to kids. This often sways parents to buy those foods just to make their kids happy. Especially when kids are temperamental in the grocery store. Not looking at a product before buying it, can cause health issues later in life. The food industry is the one to blame.
Why lie about the content in food, and why tell the world one thing and then do another?
People should not question things that are healthy, because immediately when we see words like "natural" or "healthier" we should be able to trust that those words are used correctly. The food industry wants to make a profit off of our decisions we make in the store which is why labels are made wrong. Not knowing any real information about food will cause people to eat unhealthy. This results in health effects that can put a strain on how we live our lives. These health risks include, digestive issues, heart disease, strokes, type 2 diabetes, and so much more. The food industry is cheating their way into making more profits, but we are paying for it in an unhealthy manner.
Heres an article that was written by U.S. News that expands on what the food industry doesn't want you to know. This is a great source to look at because it tells about certain facts that really are truthful.

It seems like everywhere in America companies are trying to get our money without caring what happens afterward. Everyone wants to make a quick buck, that's a big problem today and not only with the food industry. This can even relate to another groups presentation on climate change. Exxon has known since the 70's what it has been doing to our planet but they are making money so they just don't care.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with everything because the Food Industry is lying to the public about making organic, or healthy foods when it really has dangerous chemicals in it still.
ReplyDeleteHonestly if you start googling the chemicals in your food to avoid. It will amaze you how many of the same chemical is in everything. Even as a child you were marketed to the food industry with colors, symbols, and price.
